I’m sure most of us remember the advertising slogan from one of the salt companies.
In our case, we were contacted by 2 other mission’s organizations and a new organization in the northern Philippines with goals similar to some of ours.
We are considering ways of working together might be beneficial to all of us. We each have areas of experience and knowledge as well as resources that the others don’t necessarily have.
One is a large organization that has training and resources for independent missions to use for administrative and financial areas.
One has very practical and beneficial training programs for working in areas that are not immediately responsive to outsiders.
The last one, located in the northern Philippines, has some nascent programs for building sustainable income for villages such as where the children’s home is located. It parallels a test project that we have been working on for a little over a year. This would allow us to do some comparison studies about the different approaches that we are using to arrive at the same ends.
So, you ask, “What does all this mean?”
It means that we are keeping all options open to work most effectively, to help the people who have opened their hearts to us, to help themselves.
Our goal has been to empower them to be self-sufficient, self-supporting, and to take ownership in THEIR project so that they have the long-term benefits.
We are searching for wisdom and guidance to choose the best directions to move forward.
