My birthday was Sunday. I woke up a little after 3:30am which is my normal time to wake up during the work week. I was planning on dozing a little longer and taking advantage of the break from my 6 days a week, 10-hour workdays.
I noticed my cell phone having message after message start to come in, so since I was already awake, decided to check things out.
The children from the children’s home were sending me birthday wishes. Babeselle and Meriam had planned and used the webcam to take pictures to send me. I got on and began to chat with them for quite a while.

The younger ones decided that since they had signal, they wanted to share pictures for “Daddy” as they all call me. Unfortunately, it was beginning to get dark and the light was so low that all that came through were dark square boxes that had a very slight indication that it was a picture.
The smaller ones wanted to say something so the older children typed out what they were trying to say. Even 18 month Dindo was chanting “Dada dada dada”. I used my phone and took a picture and sent it back to them. They think that is so special that they can see me just moments after I take a picture, assuming that the signal is strong enough for them to receive a picture.
They turned the webcam on and I got to see them and they got to see me for about 3 minutes before the signal was lost.
While I would like to give someone a few of my extra years, it was a very happy surprise to get the messages and to see all of them at once.
