Many of the stories I write about have happy or mostly happy endings. Life is not always like that.
One child we took care of for a while was named Gregory. His father decided to not go overseas to work but to take the family and go to Cebu where he got a job as a driver for a family.

There were three other children besides Gregory but he was the one that I was mostly acquainted with at the children’s home.
Things went quite well for them for around a year and then the father has gotten sick with a physical problem that is quite serious. He is no longer able to work to support the family. His wife has found some work as a maid at a much lower rate of pay.
Since he was no longer able to work, the place where they had been living was no longer available to them. So, in addition to a loss of job, they lost their residence.
Since they are related to several of the children at the children’s home, the children and their parents have asked if we could help them with transportation costs to come back to the village.
They would move in with family until the father can get some type of medical care. I don’t know how long this would take as it seems that it would require some type of a surgery.
They need right at $200.00 USD for the transportation for the family. Unfortunately, we do not have the funds to help them with this expense.
The medical cost would be covered if they were to get a family policy from Phi-Health, which is very affordable. Since it is a preexisting condition, he would have a 90-day waiting period for coverage.
So, as you can see, sometimes needs are not huge, but despite our best wishes, we can’t help. This is a reason that we regularly mention needing regular monthly donations. They are what allow us to budget to address needs.
