I have made mention several times of the communication difficulties that we are having right now with the children’s home. A military retiree that lives a distance away stopped for me to see what was going on. Here is an update.
The Phone.
It is an inexpensive Chinese Cherry brand phone. I could hear them and but they could not hear me. It turns out that the earpiece has gone bad after only a month or so. It is possible to use it when I can get through to them, by turning on the speaker and using the hands-free function.
I had sent an old iPhone several years ago that worked wonderfully for about 4 years. I am looking for an iPhone 4S to send since it is a phone that can be made to work on their cellular system.

The Computer.
He tells me that this seems to possibly be a multiple faceted problem. The computer connects to the internet through a Wi-Fi hotspot.
The first problem is that the cellular signal is very weak so that the hotspot has a hard time connecting to the internet.
The second problem is that for some reason the computer quits after about 10-15 messages when using the yahoo messenger chat function. The speculation is that some memory function is reaching maximum capacity or possibly has to do with the weak signal.
We have found that Yahoo messenger is the chat service most likely to connect due to the low signal strength.
Right now, we are trying to investigate the possible fixes to the Chromebook.
Until we find out more, that is the best information that we have.
Thank you for your interest.
