How much would you pay for a chicken? If you are like me, it depends on how much the store is asking per pound. However, in the Philippines, it can mean a whole different set of answers.
There we would be talking about the chickens raised for fighting. While it is generally officially discouraged in most places, the reality is that there are many cock fights, particularly in the rural areas.

A man that I visited with several times told me that he had been working overseas in Germany and decided to find work so that he could remain with his family. He was given the job of running a small lodge for an Australian man. In addition, he raised the fighting cocks.

He was able to sell them for between $700 USD and $1,400 USD. That made a nice addition to his income for living in an area where the annual income is in the neighborhood of $750.
