School’s out or is it?

I talked to some of the children this weekend and enjoyed their updates on their summer activities.

The interesting thing to me was how many of them were talking about working on school activities getting ready for the coming school year.   Some of them were playing school; the ones that had problems with some of the subjects were being encouraged by the “play teachers” as they looked at the schoolwork from the previous year.

A couple of them were drawing and working on art type projects.   Several of them love drawing.  In the last big box that I sent, I sent several sets of colored pencils, markers, and art items.   In the past, I have sent several drawing books for beginners through advanced drawing.

Babeselle was practicing her guitar. She hasn’t had regular lessons but a teacher at school helps her sometimes and she has a training book.

While some of them were playing with toys and games that had been sent in the box, most of the older ones were performing some educational activities.   I am so happy with their encouraging each to excel in their schooling.

Several told me that they are anxious for school to start and seeing how they play, I certainly believe it.

It certainly encourages me that they are moving in the right direction.
